In the words of Joe Angel, hello again baseball fans. Another day, another dreary cloudy morning, but another day of Orioles baseball on tap. There is rain in the forecast, pretty much all day today in Boston, however, there is slight clearing expected around 5-6pm tonight. It should remain cloudy, and in the 50’s for first pitch tonight.
Mike Wright will make his season debut this evening against the BoSox. Mike had a record of 3-5 in 2015, with a 6.04 ERA through 9 starts. Surely, we all hope that he has made some adjustments and is ready to start his 2016 campaign on the right foot. Last season against Boston, specifically on September 16, Mike had his only outing, going 3 innings, and giving up 6 runs on 6 hits with 2 of which being home runs. That was a 60-pitch outing.
Clay Buchholz will be trying to derail the Orioles and their hot start. Clay was 1-1 in 2015 vs. the Orioles, in 2 starts. Clay had a 2.08 ERA in those starts, and if this years Orioles lineup holds true to the previous 6 games, you’ll be seeing more than 2 runs. In his career against the Orioles, Clay has made 18 starts, posting a 10-5 record, with a pretty decent 3.65 ERA.
Last 5 years vs. Buchholz:
- Chris Davis, .364 2 HR 4 RBI
- JJ Hardy, .318 2 HR 3 RBI
- Ryan Flaherty, .389
